Welcome, I’m So Glad You’re Here
Serving clients in NYC and throughout
New York State via teletherapy
Life in New York can be fast, full, and overwhelming — especially when you’re trying to keep it all together. Whether you’re juggling a demanding career, struggling with relationships and setting boundaries, or feeling weighed down by anxiety or old wounds, you don’t have to navigate it alone.
I’m a licensed therapist serving clients in NYC and surrounding areas. My practice is rooted in compassion, honesty, and a deep belief in your capacity for healing and growth. I offer a space where you can show up exactly as you are — no pretense, no pressure — and begin the work of feeling better.
Therapy That’s Real, Relatable, and Empowering
Sessions with me are anything but surface-level. I’m a hands-on, engaged therapist who will support you with empathy and honesty, while equipping you with the tools to make meaningful changes in your life.
I help clients:
Navigate stress and burnout from busy, demanding lives
Build confidence and self-esteem
Develop healthy boundaries and strengthen relationships
Untangle negative self-beliefs that keep them stuck
Learn to assert themselves with clarity and self-respect
Adjust to life transitions — including the challenges of new parenthood and the postpartum period
Clients often tell me they feel safe, understood, and genuinely cared for in our work together. They leave sessions with practical skills, deeper self-awareness, and the ability to be more present in their lives — mindfulness is a cornerstone of my approach.
Ready to Take the Next Step?
Reaching out is often the hardest part — but it’s also the first step toward meaningful change.
If you’re ready to feel more grounded, confident, and connected in your life, I’d love to meet you.
How I Can Support You
What Clients are Saying
“I started therapy with Sophia toward the beginning of the Covid lockdown. Like most everyone, I was riddled with anxiety and fear. She never minimized our collective concerns or my own. She instead made me feel embraced and understood. Sophia is extremely warm, smart, and considerate. We laughed together more frequently than I cried, though when I was sad, she always found the perfect tone to meet whatever I was going through. Truly a client-first therapist, Sophia was there for me each week in the form I needed most while also being present in her authentic personality. If you're looking for someone who is going to show up for you with kindness, levelheadedness, humor and intelligence, you cannot go wrong working with Sophia. I wholeheartedly endorse her as a uniquely special, encouraging, and inspiring therapist.”
- Lori, New York
“Sophia helped me confront and move through trauma that occurred both in my past and in my present. She helped me develop the tools I needed to start living the life I deserve to live. EMDR with Sophia was a revelation, and integral to my healing process.
I no longer invalidate my own experience in the way I would when I started this work. I am more mindful and intentional about my mental health and am better for it.
Sophia is compassionate in her work and provides you with a truly safe space to work through whatever is going on in your life. She has an array of modalities at her disposal and uses the techniques that make sense for you. I cannot recommend therapy with her enough.”
- Ben, New York
“Sophia made me feel safe, seen, and understood in a way no therapist ever had before. Her warmth and insight made even the hardest sessions feel manageable, and I left each one with real skills to use in my daily life. I’m deeply grateful for her.”

Virtual Therapy | New York

I see adults across New York State. Whether you’re just starting therapy or have been through it before, I’d be honored to work with you.
-
That’s okay. Therapy is a process, and not every approach works for everyone. My job is to create a safe space where you feel comfortable exploring what’s going on inside. Many of my clients say they feel a connection with me that they hadn’t found in other therapy settings, and that makes a big difference.

EMDR can feel intimidating at first, but it’s really about your brain doing the work in the background while you stay safe and supported. Through EMDR, we don’t have to talk through every detail of a trauma. Instead, it helps you process and release the emotional weight in a gentle but powerful way.
-
Boundaries are a huge part of the work I do with all my clients. I’ll help you recognize your needs and practice saying no, so you can protect your emotional space and build healthier relationships.
-
Absolutely. Many clients find virtual sessions comfortable and convenient, especially when juggling busy schedules or managing anxiety about in-person visits. We can connect securely from wherever you feel safe. All you need is stable wifi and a quiet, confidential space.

I’m a private pay clinician, which means I don’t bill insurance directly. This allows us to focus on your goals without the limitations or required diagnoses that often come with insurance plans. It also gives you more privacy and flexibility in your care.
-
Yes, many of my clients choose to use their out-of-network benefits. I can provide you with a monthly superbill (an itemized receipt) that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. I recommend calling your insurance provider to ask about your specific out-of-network mental health benefits.
